Ensuring the beauty of the North Pennines

The North Pennines Heritage Trust works to conserve the historic remains of man's activities in the landscape of the Northern Pennines and to help people to understand and enjoy them.

A registered charity, founded in 1987, the Trust has carried out conservation, restoration and interpretation work at over 15 locations in Cumbria, Northumberland and County Durham. It continually has new projects that are being planned, and actively seeks funding for many more!

The Trust has it's own archaeology and building departments who are involved in it's recording and conservation of sites in the North Pennines region. North Pennines Archaeology also runs a Summer School which aims to provide archaeology students, and prospective entrants into archaeology courses at university, the opportunity to gain valuable fieldwork experience.

Besides interpreting and making many of the projects that it has worked on open to the public, the North Pennines Heritage Trust has two of its own visitor centres.
