  • Classroom Dig - Key Stage 2 - Outreach
    This is a chance to practice being a real archaeologist in your own school, digging through various historical layers to discover, label and record artefacts that you find.
  • Pennine Village - Key Stage 2&3 - Outreach
    This is a programme of activities developed to support the investigation of local history relating to silver and lead mining on Alston Moor, Cumbria and, in particular, the community of the village of Nenthead, providing the opportunity to make a comparative study of the village of Nenthead – how it   grew and changed over the years

    Search for examples of different minerals, crystals and metal ores washed down from our 18th century spoil heaps. Use sorting and branching database techniques to identify finds.
  • The Power of Water - Key Stage 2&3 - Nenthead
    Visit Nenthead Mines and learn what life was like for the miners and their families. Learn about the Power of Water with our large interactive display and pan for minerals taking home your finds.

    Visit Nenthead Mines and Heritage Centre and use all of our resources to further research a related topic within your own classroom, supported by our Virtual Learning Environment.
