Welcome to the Education Service at North Pennines Heritage Trust!

The recently established education team at NPHT deliver a broad ranging Educational Programme based around our numerous sites and heritage centres, archives, resources, publications, projects, exhibitions and other facilities in the North Pennines.

We cater for an extensive range of subjects and key stages aiming to help teachers and educators deliver the National Curriculum through a creative and cultural educational approach.

The work of the Trust involves conservation, restoration and interpretation at a wide variety of sites across the region and we offer a fascinating insight into all of their projects. In addition, our popular outreach services offer educational programmes into Schools throughout the North Pennines and beyond.

At Nenthead Mines visitor and education centre, near Alston in Cumbria, the Trust has developed a 200-acre site with a wide range of exhibits, attractions and facilities.
Whilst at Dilston Castle and Chapel, near Hexham, the story of the Jacobite rebellion has been enhanced for visitors with a newly completed programme of restoration work and new interpretive material. These centres offer time out of the more formal 'classroom’ environment, which challenges and motivates students and in the process delivers a safe, enjoyable day to remember.
